56 – Khalaf ibn Hisham narrated to us; Abu Mutarrif Mughīrah al-Shāmī narrated from al-ʿArzamī, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ⦗50⦘ said:

“When Allah gathers all creatures on the Day of Resurrection, a herald will proclaim, ‘Where are the people of excellence?’ A small number will rise and proceed quickly toward Paradise. The angels will meet them and ask, ‘We see you hurrying to Paradise—who are you?’ They will reply, ‘We are the people of excellence.’ The angels will say, ‘What was your excellence?’ ⦗51⦘ They will answer, ‘When we were wronged, we were patient; when people treated us badly, we forgave; and when others behaved ignorantly toward us, we responded with forbearance.’ It will then be said to them, ‘Enter Paradise; what an excellent reward for those who labored!’”
