50 – Muḥammad ibn Idrīs narrated to me, reporting from Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Faḍl, that Luqmān said to his son:
“My dear son, I enjoin upon you certain qualities; if you cling to them you will always remain a leader.
• Extend your forbearance to both those who are near and those who are distant.
• Restrain your boorish impulses toward the honorable and the lowly alike.
• Uphold the ties of kinship.
• And let your companions be only those who, when they part from you and you from them, leave you with nothing for which people can reproach you.”
