49 – Muhammad ibn Idris narrated to me; Ḥassān ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Miṣri narrated to us; and al-Sarī ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us. He said: “I came across a manuscript that contained the following words of Wahb ibn Munabbih:
‘Whoever shows mercy will be shown mercy; whoever keeps silent will remain safe; whoever behaves ignorantly will be overcome; whoever is hasty will make mistakes; whoever is eager for evil will not be secure; whoever does not abandon disputation will be insulted; whoever does not loathe insults is sinful; whoever hates evil will be protected; whoever follows Allah’s command will be preserved; whoever fears Allah will feel secure; whoever takes Allah as his patron will be invincible; whoever fails to ask Allah will be left in need; whoever is not with Allah will be forsaken; and whoever seeks help from Allah will prevail.’
