Al-HilmIbn Abi al-Dunya

47 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated—ʿIkrima ibn Ibrāhīm informed us—on the authority of ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, from Rajāʾ ibn Ḥaywa, who said: Abū al-Dardāʾ declared, “Knowledge is attained only through study, and forbearance only by deliberately exercising forbearance. Whoever strives for good will be granted it, and whoever avoids evil will be shielded from it.”
