40 – Hārūn ibn Abī Yaḥyā narrated to me, from a shaykh of the tribe of Ṭayyiʾ, who said: Muʿāwiyah once asked, “O people of Ṭayyiʾ, who is your chief?” They replied, “Khuraim ibn Aws—the one who tolerates our insults, gives to everyone who asks, shows forbearance toward our ignorant ones, and overlooks even the extra blows we give him with our staffs.”
