36 – Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh related to me; ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn reported:
It was said to a Persian man, “Which of your kings do you hold in the highest esteem?”
He replied, “Ardashir has the virtue of precedence, yet among us the exemplar is the life of Anushirwan.”
“So which of his traits predominated in him?” he was asked.
He answered, “Forbearance and calm deliberation.”
Someone remarked, “The two are twins, begotten by a lofty ambition.”
