20 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād ibn Mūsā narrated to me; my uncle, Khalīfah ibn Mūsā, narrated from al-Sharqī ibn al-Qaṭṭāmī, who said that al-Afwah ibn Mālik al-Azdī remarked:
"Forbearance is a marvel that wards off anger. Obscenity springs from ineptitude, and such ineptitude demolishes commendation. Among the finest prizes a man can win is a gracious tongue, and in abandoning contentious debate lies comfort for the body."
