Al-HilmIbn Abi al-Dunya
  1. Al-Zubayr ibn Bakkār said: Yūnus ibn Ibrāhīm recited to me, from Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsā, from Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbayd Allāh:

Do not be hasty in wronging anyone, for the field of injustice ends in ruin.

Nor let obscenity escape your tongue, though anger fill your breast; foul speech is ever blameworthy.

Do not sever ties with a brother over a slip, for the magnanimous heart forgives a fault.

Rather, cover his flaw with a discreet patch, just as worn cloth is mended with a patch.

Do not despair at the turns of fate; be patient, for patience leaves one sound in the end.

Panic will profit you nothing, and anxiety will never bring back what has passed.
