111. Ali ibn Ibrahim al-Yashkuri related to me—Yaʿqub ibn Muhammad al-Zuhri narrated to us, from his father. Abu ʿAmr al-Makki conveyed, on the authority of al-Zuhri, from Musʿab ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi Umayyah, from Umm Salama, who said:

“When Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl came to Medina he would pass by the Ansar, and they would say, ‘This is the son of the enemy of Allah.’ He complained about that to Umm Salama, saying, ‘I imagine I shall have to go back to Mecca.’ She informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he delivered a sermon in which he said:

‘People are like mineral veins; the finest of them in the Age of Ignorance are the finest of them in Islam when they gain understanding. No Muslim is to be harmed on account of a disbeliever.’”
