104 – Abu Jaʿfar al-Karshī narrated to me; he said: “One morning a group of Banu Tamim were wrestling while al-Ahnaf stood watching them. An old woman from the clan called out, ‘What do you make of them? May Allah diminish your enemy!’ He replied, ‘Hush! Why do you say that? Were it not for these men, we would be fools’—meaning that they keep foolishness away from us.”
