99 – Sālim ibn Wābiṣa al-Asadī said:
I see that forbearance, in some situations, brings humiliation,
and in others bestows an honor that exalts its bearer.
If by your patience you do not repel an ignorant fool,
nor set against him one who can match his ignorance,
you will end up wearing the garment of abasement before him, subdued,
and by morning his falsehood will have stripped you of your due.
So deal courteously with the simpletons of your people;
for every forbearing man has a moment when he himself behaves like a fool.
