97 – ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Sulayman reported from Asmaʾ ibn ʿUbayd, who said: “It has reached us that Luqman said to his son, ‘A forbearing man who, each time he meets you, raps you with his staff is better than a fool who gladdens you whenever he meets you.’”
