Al-HilmIbn Abi al-Dunya

83 – Ibn ʿĀʾisha al-Taymī recited to me:
A one-eyed insult came from a brother, so I sent it back
with both eyes sound, still searching for an excuse.
Had I, when he uttered it, replied in kind
and refused to pardon it, it would have left a lifelong rift between us.
