Mahmūd ibn Ghaylān narrated to us, saying: Wahb ibn Jarīr ibn Hāzim ibn al-‘Abbās narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: I heard ‘Ubaydullāh ibn ‘Umar narrating from Habīb ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmān, from Hafs ibn ‘Āsim, from Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who mentioned the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said:
“When a man gives charity from good earnings—and ⦗149⦘ Allah accepts only what is good—Allah takes it in His right hand and nurtures it for him, be it a morsel or a date, just as one of you raises his foal or his weaned camel calf, until it becomes greater than Mount Uhud.”
