Abū Yahyā related it in these terms, meaning the hadith of Ibn Abī Maryam.
Yūnus ibn ‘Abd al-A‘lā narrated to us, saying: Ibn Wahb narrated to us that Mālik informed him, from Yahyā ibn ⦗146⦘ Sa‘īd, from Sa‘īd ibn Yasār, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Whoever gives charity from good earnings—and Allah accepts only what is good—places it in the palm of the Most Merciful, who nurtures it as one of you raises his foal or his weaned camel calf, until it becomes like a mountain.”
Immediately afterward, Yūnus narrated to us, saying: Yahyā ibn ‘Abdullāh ibn Bukayr narrated to us, saying: Mālik narrated to us, from Yahyā ibn Sa‘īd, from Sa‘īd ibn Yasār, from Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a similar report.
Muhammad ibn Yahyā also narrated to us, saying: In what I read to ‘Abdullāh ibn Nāfi‘, and in what ⦗147⦘ Rawh narrated to us, from Mālik, from Yahyā ibn Sa‘īd, from Sa‘īd ibn Yasār, Abū al-Hubāb—Ibn Nāfi‘ said, “From Abū Hurayrah,” while Ibn Yahyā said, and this is his narration, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said something similar, including:
“He places it in the palm of the Most Merciful.”
Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Ya‘lā ibn ‘Ubayd narrated to us, saying: Yahyā—meaning Ibn Sa‘īd—narrated to us, from Sa‘īd ibn Yasār, Abū al-Hubāb, that he heard Abū Hurayrah relate this hadith as his own statement, without attributing it to the Prophet. He said:
“Without placing it, at the moment he gives it, in the palm of the Most Merciful; indeed, Allah makes it grow.”
Abū Bakr said: I have included the narrations of this chapter in the Book of Charity, in the first chapter on voluntary charity.
