Chapter: Evidence from the Sunnah of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, affirming Allah’s hearing and sight in accordance with the Book of our Lord
For whenever his traditions are established through an unbroken chain of upright narrators reaching back to him, they invariably accord with the Book of Allah. Allah forbid that any of them should ever contradict the Book of Allah or any part of it. If any ignorant person claims that a tradition of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, whose transmission has been established contradicts anything in the Book of Allah, I undertake to demonstrate the soundness of our position, which I have openly professed for more than forty years.
بَابُ الْبَيَانِ مِنْ سُنَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى تَثْبِيتِ السَّمْعِ والْبَصَرِ للَّهِ، مُوَافِقًا لِمَا يَكُونُ مِنْ كِتَابِ رَبِّنَا، إِذْ سُنَنُهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا ثَبَتَتْ بِنَقْلِ الْعَدْلِ عَنِ الْعَدْلِ مَوْصُولًا إِلَيْهِ لَا تَكُونُ أَبَدًا إِلَّا مُوَافِقَةً لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ، حَاشَا لِلَّهِ أَنْ يَكُونَ شَيْءٌ مِنْهَا أَبَدًا مُخَالِفًا لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ أَوْ لِشَيْءٍ مِنْهُ، فَمَنِ ادَّعَى مِنَ الْجَهَلَةِ أَنَّ شَيْئًا مِنْ سُنَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا ثَبَتَ مِنْ جِهَةِ النَّقْلِ مُخَالِفٌ لِشَيْءٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ، فَأَنَا الضَّامِنُ بِتَثْبِيتِ صِحَّةِ مَذْهَبِنَا عَلَى مَا أَبُوحُ بِهِ مُنْذُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً
