Muhammad ibn ʿUthmān al-ʿIjlī narrated to us: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsā narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from Hakīm ibn al-Daylam, from Abū Burdah, from Abū Mūsā, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stood among us and delivered four statements, saying:
“Indeed, Allah does not sleep, nor is it befitting for Him to sleep. He lowers the balance and raises it. The deeds of the night are raised to Him before the day, and the deeds of the day before the night. His veil is fire. Were He to remove it, the splendor of His Face would burn everything encompassed by His sight.”
