Abū Mūsā Muhammad ibn al-Muthannā narrated to us. He said: ‘Amr ibn ‘Āsim narrated to us. He said: Hammām narrated to us, from Qatādah, from Muwarriq, from Abū al-Ahwas, from ‘Abd Allāh, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said:
“A woman is to be kept covered. When she goes out, Satan looks eagerly upon her. She is closest to the Face of her Lord when she is in the innermost part of her home.”
⦗41⦘ Abū Bakr said: I have dictated the various chains of transmission of this report elsewhere, outside this book. The report of Fudayl ibn Marzūq, from ‘Atiyyah, from Abū Sa‘īd, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, concerning the supplication when setting out for prayer, includes the words:
“And Allah turns His Face towards him.”
⦗42⦘ Muhammad ibn Yahyā ibn Durays narrated to us. He said: Ibn Fudayl ibn Fudayl ibn Marzūq narrated to us. Muhammad ibn Khalaf al-‘Asqalānī narrated to us. He said: Adam ibn Abī Iyās narrated to us. He said: Sulaym ibn Hayyān narrated to us, from Fudayl ibn Marzūq; he then related the hadith in full.
He said: Muhammad ibn Khalaf used the wording in his narration, “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,” whereas Ibn Yahyā ibn Durays said, “He traced it back to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.”
