Kitab at-TawhidIbn Khuzaima

Muhammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us. He said: Yahyā narrated to us. He said: Al-Aʿmash narrated to us. He said: ⦗36⦘ Shaqīq narrated to us. He said:

We were with Hudhayfah when Shabath ibn Ribʿī stood up to pray and spat in front of himself. Hudhayfah said to him:

“O Shabath, do not spit in front of yourself or to your right, for the recorder of good deeds is on your right. Rather, spit to your left or behind you. When a servant performs ablution well and then stands to pray, Allah turns His Face towards him in intimate converse. He does not turn away from him until the worshipper turns away or does something wrong.”

Abū Bakr said: I did not find the words “until the worshipper turns away” in my manuscript, and I think the copyist omitted them. I have recorded the narrations of this chapter in the Book of Prayer.
