Kitab at-TawhidIbn Khuzaima

Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Tasnīm narrated to us. He said: Muhammad—that is, Ibn ⦗35⦘ Bakr al-Bursānī—narrated to us. He said: Abū al-ʿAwwām—that is, ʿImrān al-Qattān—narrated to us, from ʿĀsim, from Abū Wāʾil, that Shabath ibn Ribʿī prayed beside Hudhayfah and spat in front of himself. Hudhayfah said:

“The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade this. Then he said:

‘When a Muslim begins his prayer, Allah turns His Face towards him in intimate converse. He does not turn away until the worshipper turns away from Him or does something to disrupt it.’”
