Muhammad ibn Yahyā narrated to us. He said: Abū al-Mughīrah narrated to us. He said: Abū Bakr—that is, Ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Maryam al-Ghassānī—narrated to us. He said: Damrah ibn ⦗34⦘ Habīb narrated to me, from Abū al-Dardāʾ, from Zayd ibn Thābit, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, taught him the following and instructed him to remind his household of it every morning:
“Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am at Your service, ever ready to obey You. All good is in Your hands, from You and to You.”
He related the hadith in full. It includes:
“O Allah, I ask You for contentment after Your decree, comfort in life after death, the delight of looking upon Your Face, and longing to meet You, without harmful affliction or a trial that leads astray.”
I dictated this hadith in its entirety in the Book of Supplication.
Abū Bakr said: This report also serves to affirm Allah’s Hand, Mighty and Majestic is He. The chapters affirming His Hand will follow in their proper place in this book.
