Ahmad ibn Dāwūd al-Wāsitī narrated to us. He said: Wahb—meaning Ibn Jarīr—narrated to us. He said: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Suhayl ibn Abī Sālih, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“One who fights in Allah’s cause, seeking the Face of Allah, is like one who stands in prayer until the fighter returns.”

Abū Bakr said: I have already dictated this chapter under the virtues of jihad.
