ʿAbd al-Jabbār ibn al-ʿAlāʾ, Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dawraqī, al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan, Abū ʿAmmār al-Husayn ibn Hurayth, and Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-Rahmān al-Makhzūmī narrated to us. They said: Sufyān narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿĀmir ibn Saʿd, from his father, who said: “I fell ill in Mecca in the year of the conquest.”
They related the hadith in full, including the following in their narration: He said: “I asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, will I be left behind after my emigration?’ He replied:
‘If you ⦗29⦘ are left behind after me, no deed you do seeking the Face of Allah will fail to increase you in rank and standing.’”
Abū Bakr said: I have already dictated the chains of transmission of this report in the chapters on bequests.
