Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Zaʿfarānī narrated to us, saying: ʿAffān ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: ⦗171⦘ Hammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, saying: Ishāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh—meaning Ibn Abī Talhah—informed us, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Miqsam, from Ibn ʿUmar, that one day, while on the pulpit, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, recited these verses:
“They have not esteemed Allah as He deserves. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grasp, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand.” [Al-Zumar: 67]
He recited the verse, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gesturing thus with his fingers and moving them, said: “The Lord glorifies Himself: ‘I am the Compeller! I am the Supremely Great! I am the King! I am the Almighty! I am the Generous!’”
The pulpit shook beneath the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, until we said, “It will surely fall with him!”
