Bundār narrated to us, saying: ‘Uthmān ibn ‘Umar narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī ⦗156⦘ Dhi’b narrated to me, from Muslim ibn Jundub, from Hakīm ibn Hizām, who said:
I asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, for wealth and persisted in asking him. He said:
“How much you ask, O Hakīm! This wealth is sweet and alluring, yet it is the dirt from people’s hands. Allah’s hand is above the giver’s hand, the giver’s hand is above the recipient’s hand, and the recipient’s hand is the lowest of all.”
Abū Bakr said: Muslim ibn Jundub heard a number of reports from Ibn ‘Umar. He also said, “Ibn ‘Umar instructed me to buy him a sacrificial animal.” Thus, I do not rule out that he may have heard from Hakīm ibn Hizām.
حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ،
قَالَ:
ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ،
قَالَ:
حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ⦗١٥٦⦘ ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ،
قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْمَالِ، وَأَلْحَحْتُ عَلَيْهِ ,
فَقَالَ:
«وَمَا أَكْثَرَ مَسْأَلَتَكَ , يَا حَكِيمُ، إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ حُلْوَةٌ خَضِرَةٌ، وَهِيَ مَعَ ذَلِكَ أَوْسَاخُ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ، وَإِنَّ يَدَ اللَّهِ فَوْقَ يَدِ الْمُعْطِي، وَيَدَ الْمُعْطِي فَوْقَ يَدِ الْمُعْطَى، وَيَدَ الْمُعْطَى أَسْفَلُ الْأَيْدِي»
قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: مُسْلِمُ بْنُ جُنْدُبٍ قَدْ سَمِعَ مِنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ غَيْرَ شَيْءٍ،
وَقَالَ:
أَمَرَنِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَنْ أَشْتَرِيَ لَهُ بَدَنَةً، فَلَسْتُ أُنْكِرُ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ سَمِعَ مِنَ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ
