Yahyā ibn Hakīm narrated to us, saying: Abū Qutaybah narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abī Dhi’b narrated to us, from ⦗155⦘ Muslim ibn Jundub, from Hakīm ibn Hizām, who said:
I asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and persisted in asking. He said:
“O Hakīm, how much you ask! This wealth is sweet and alluring, yet it is nothing but the dirt from people’s hands. Allah’s hand is uppermost; the giver’s hand is immediately below it, and the beggar’s hand is below that.”
