70 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; al-Hasan ibn Abī al-Rabīʿ related to us; ʿAbd al-Razzāq reported, from Maʿmar, from al-Zuhri, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣafwān, who said:
A man exclaimed on the day of Ṣiffīn, “O Allah, curse the people of Syria!” ʿAlī replied, “Do not revile the Syrians in the mass, for among them are the abdal—for among them are the abdal—for among them are the abdal.”
٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ، قَالَ: " قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَهْلَ الشَّامِ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: لَا تَسُبَّ أَهْلَ الشَّامِ جَمًّا غَفِيرًا؛ فَإِنَّ بِهَا الْأَبْدَالَ، فَإِنَّ بِهَا الْأَبْدَالَ، فَإِنَّ بِهَا الْأَبْدَالَ "
