Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; ʿĪsā ibn Salamah al-Ramlī narrated to us; it was transmitted by Ayūb ibn Suwayd, from al-Sarī ibn Yaḥyā, who said:
A neighbor of Abū Qilābah al-Jarmī once set out for the pilgrimage. On a sweltering summer day he rode ahead of his companions while observing the fast, and he was overcome by intense thirst. He supplicated, “O Allah, You are surely able to take away my thirst without my having to break the fast.”
Immediately a cloud came over him and poured rain upon him until his garments were soaked and his thirst vanished. He then dismounted, dug several small basins, and filled them with the rainwater. When his companions caught up with him, they drank from those basins—yet not a single drop of that rain had fallen on any of them.
