Hārūn ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Sayyār ibn Ḥātim narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, and it was related by Luqmān al-Ḥanafī together with Yūsuf ibn Yaʿqūb, who both said: “It has reached us that Allah — exalted is He — will say to His allies on the Day of Resurrection: ‘My devoted servants! For so long I watched over you in the worldly life: your eyes had become sunken, your lips had drawn tight from refraining from drink, and your stomachs had grown hollow. Now pass the cup among yourselves, and eat and drink with delight for what you sent on ahead in days gone by.’”
