35. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated, reporting from Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah, from Zubayd, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from a man of Banū Hāshim who traced it back [to the Prophet]. He said:

“It is not fitting for the friends of Allah—the people of the Abode of Everlasting Life, whose striving and yearning are directed toward it—that the courtiers of the ruler—the people of the Abode of Delusion, whose striving and yearning are directed toward it—should be more forward in competition and more mutually supportive with regard to their lineage, character, and worldly affairs than the friends of Allah are with respect to their Lord and their religion.”
