- Surayj narrated to us; Rawḥ ibn ʿUbādah narrated to us; Ḥammād transmitted from a man, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Rabāḥ, from Kaʿb, who said: “I find in the Torah that no love is bestowed on anyone among the people of the earth until its origin comes from Allah: He sends it down to the inhabitants of heaven, and then He sends it down to the inhabitants of earth. Likewise, no hatred befalls anyone on earth until its origin comes from Allah; He sends it down to the dwellers of heaven, and then He sends it down to the dwellers of earth.” He then recited, “Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds—the Most Merciful will appoint affection for them” (Maryam 19:96).
