20 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; al-ʿAbbās b. Jaʿfar related; Saʿīd b. ʿAṭārad al-Kindī transmitted to us, from Ibn Luhayʿah, from Khālid b. Yazīd, from Saʿīd b. Abī Hilāl, that an informant reported that he entered upon the Raʾs al-Jālūt (the Jewish Exilarch) while he was weeping. I said, “What makes you weep?” He replied, “I have come across this verse: ‘Indeed, I used to love you, but when you disobeyed I came to loathe you.’”
