19 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; al-Haytham b. Khārijah related to us; Rishdīn b. Saʿd transmitted, from ʿAbd Allah b. al-Walīd al-Tujībī, from Abū Manṣūr, the client of the Anṣār, from ʿAmr b. al-Jamūḥ, that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say ⦗16⦘:

“No servant is entitled to the full, pristine right of faith until he loves for the sake of Allah and hates for the sake of Allah. When he does love for Allah’s sake and hate for Allah’s sake, he has earned the bond of divine friendship (walāyah). Allah says: ‘My close friends among My servants, My beloved ones among My creation, are those whose remembrance is bound up with My remembrance, and through remembering them I am remembered.’”
