120 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Marzuq al-ʿAtaki transmitted; Fadl Abu Hatim reported:
“When the great fire of ʿArman broke out, there was a man inside his small reed hut plaiting palm-fronds. The flames had completely surrounded him, yet they did him no harm. People asked him about this, and he replied, ‘I have solemnly called upon the Lord of the Fire not to burn me with it.’ They said to him, ‘Then call upon Him to extinguish it as well!’ He did so, and before long the fire went out.”
