11 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Abū Hishām reported to us; Yaḥyā ibn Yamān transmitted; Zāʾidah related from al-Aʿmash, from Sālim—meaning Ibn Abī al-Jaʿd—who said that the Prophet said:
“Among My devoted friends are those who, if one of them were to ask any of you for a single dirham you would refuse, or for a dinar you would refuse. Yet were he to ask Allah for this world, Allah would not grant it to him; but were he to ask Him for Paradise, He would grant it to him; and if he swore by Allah, Allah would certainly uphold his oath.”
١١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، نا أَبُو هِشَامٍ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ، نا زَائِدَةُ، عَنِ الْأَعمشِ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، قَالَ: يَقُولُ ﵎: إِنَّ مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِي مَنْ لَوْ سَأَلَ أَحَدَكُمْ دِرْهَمًا مَا أَعْطَاهُ أَوْ دِينَارًا مَا أَعْطَاهُ، وَلَوْ سَأَلَ اللَّهَ الدُّنْيَا مَا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهَا، وَلَوْ سَأَلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهَا، وَلَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ "
