- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn reported; Aḥmad ibn Sahl al-Urdunnī said:
“I heard a devout shaykh in the mosque of Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) between the Maghrib (sunset) and ʿIshāʾ (night) prayers, weeping and supplicating. In his prayer he kept saying:
‘To You the lovers have fled with all the means by which they seek You; to You they turn, relying on Your generosity to have those petitions accepted.’
He then let out a piercing cry, and whatever came after that escaped me.”
