90. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Abū Ḥātim reported; Abū Ghassān transmitted from one of his teachers, who said:

“Muttarif ibn Wāṣil once passed by some boys playing with walnuts. He accidentally stepped on one of their walnuts and broke it. One of the children cried out, ‘O old man destined for the Fire!’ Muttarif immediately sat down, began to weep, and kept saying, ‘No one has truly recognized me but you.’”
