83 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Suqah, who said:

“The Muslims were besieging a fortress. While they were engaged in the siege, they noticed a man. Some of them said to one another, ‘O so-and-so, this man’s appearance resembles that of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.’ Sufyan explained: ‘He was dishevelled, wearing two tattered garments.’ They then said to one of their number, ‘Speak to him and ask Allah to grant us victory over it.’ So he appealed to his Lord, and Allah opened the fortress for them.”
