42 — Abd al-Rahmān ibn Sālih al-Azdī narrated to me: Abd al-Rahmān ibn Muhammad al-Muhāribī narrated to us, from Mālik ibn Mighwal, from al-Hasan, who said: They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, which companions are best?” He replied, “A companion who helps you when you remember Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and reminds you when you forget Him.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, direct us to the best among us, so that we may take them as companions and close associates.” He replied, “How excellent are those whose very sight brings Allah to mind.”
