Al-IkhwanIbn Abi al-Dunya

188 — One of our companions narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ubayd, who said: “We visited Muhammad ibn Sūqa and asked him to narrate to us. He wept and said, ‘My brothers shunned me when my wealth was gone.’” Someone other than Muhammad said: “He had purses containing money. Whenever his brothers visited him, he would say, ‘My brothers, whoever needs anything, let him take it.’ By Allah, they continued taking until every last purse was empty.”
