164 — Abū Hafs al-Sayrafī narrated to us: Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us; al-Jurayrī narrated to us, from Abū al-Alā, from Mutarrif, who said: “I went to Uthmān ibn Abī al-Ās, and he said to me, ‘Mutarrif, are your hands full?’ When I left, he sent a messenger after me with a purse containing four hundred [dirhams]. Later, when my circumstances improved, I brought it back to him. He said, ‘I did not give it to you only to take it back from you.’”
