160 — Al-Hasan ibn Yahyā al-Missīsī narrated to us, saying: Khuzayma Abū Muhammad narrated to us that Umar ibn Abd al-Azīz said, “Whenever I have given anyone wealth, I have always considered it too little. I would be ashamed before Allah—glorious is His Majesty—if I were to ask Allah—glorious is His Majesty—to grant something to one of my brothers while begrudging him the goods of this world. Otherwise, on the Day of Resurrection, I would be told, ‘Had the world been in your hands, you would have been even more miserly.’”
