133 — ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us: Sallām ibn Miskīn narrated to us, from ʿAqīl ibn Talhah—whose father had participated in every campaign with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—from Jurayy, or Abu Jurayy, al-Hujaymī, who said: We said, “O Messenger of Allah, we are people of the desert, and we would like you to teach us a deed by which Allah may benefit us.” He said, “Never consider any act of kindness insignificant, even if it is merely pouring water from your bucket into the vessel of someone asking for water, or speaking to your brother with a cheerful countenance.”
