46 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Isḥāq ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, who said, concerning the charitable endowment of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib:
“This is what ʿAlī gave in charity. He endowed the property at Yanbuʿ seeking Allah’s Face. Its date-palm harvest comes to forty thousand wasqs, not counting its wheat, barley, sult (peeled barley), henna, and bananas. Every asset I own at Yanbuʿ I have devoted to the believers, the first of them and the last, so that Allah may by means of it admit me to Paradise, turn the Fire away from my face, and turn my face away from the Fire on the Day when faces brighten and faces darken.
It is a perpetual endowment in the path of Allah—a binding charity forever—never to be sold, gifted, or inherited. ʿAlī likewise endowed eighteen water-springs.”
