3- Abū ʿAlī ibn Ṣafwān informed us; Ibn Abī al-Dunyā informed us; Shurayḥ ibn Yūnus related to me; Hushaym transmitted it from Ismāʿīl ibn Sālim, from ʿAmmār al-Ḥaḍramī, from Zādhān Abū ʿUmar:
A man once reported a narration to ʿAlī. ʿAlī said, “I suspect you have lied to me.” The man replied, “I have not.” ʿAlī said, “Then call upon Allah against yourself if you are lying.” The man said, “Go ahead and supplicate.” ʿAlī invoked, and the man had not yet moved away before he lost his sight.
