32 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated. He said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Yūnus related to me; he said: my father narrated to me, from Abān al-Bajlī, from Abū Bakr ibn Jaʿfar, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: I heard ʿAli in Kūfa when a prisoner was brought before him and someone asked, “Commander of the Believers, what do you decide concerning this captive?” He replied, “My opinion is that you treat him with generous hospitality until it becomes clear what happens to me. If I die, then do not keep him after my death for even an hour.”
