31 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated. He said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Yūnus ibn Bukayr related to me; he said: my father narrated to me, from Abū Isḥāq al-Mukhtār al-Taymī, from Abū al-Maṭar, that when Ibn Muljam struck ʿAli, the sword’s edge landed on ʿAli’s head while the middle of the blade hit the door. ʿAli said, “Seize the man. If I die, then kill him; but if I live, retaliation applies for the wounds.”
