26 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated; my father—may Allah have mercy on him—narrated to me, from ⦗39⦘ Hishām ibn Muḥammad. He said: A man from the Nakhaʿ tribe told me; he said: Ṣāliḥ ibn Maytham related to me from his father, who said: “I watched the people as they were dispersing after the dawn prayer, savagely clawing at Ibn Muljam with their teeth and leaping upon him like wild beasts, shouting, ‘Enemy of Allah, what have you done? You have ruined the Ummah and killed the best of men!’ Yet he remained silent, not uttering a single word.”
