Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said: Abū Bakr ibn Abī al-Dunyā narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Ḥassān told me; he said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAmr al-Kindī narrated:
“We entered upon a Zoroastrian who was ill to pay him a visit. One of our companions asked, ‘How are you feeling, O Zoroastrian?’ He answered, ‘What do you make of a man who is about to be taken to a desolate grave where no friend will keep him company, who is setting out on a long journey without provisions, and who is going to stand before a Just King with no plea to offer?’
Not long afterwards, he died.”
