119 – Al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; … ibn Khalīfah al-Khuzaʿī narrated to us; Abū Yaḥyā al-Taymī narrated to us, from ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd Allah, from al-Zuhrī, who said:

ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Marwān sent for me and asked, “What sign appeared on the morning when ʿAlī—may Allah honor his face—was killed?” I replied, “The sign on that morning was that no stone was turned over at al-Jābiyyah without fresh blood being found beneath it.” He said, “You have spoken the truth. Indeed, no one is left who knows this other than you and me.”
